ZERO BUDGET FARMING
Zero budget farming is a method of chemical – free agriculture drawing from traditional India practices and harvesting plants comes out of zero budget. It also reduces dependence on purchased inputs as it encourages use of own seeds and locally available natural fertilizers. In Palkot block – 597 small holder farmers are preserving traditional seeds in the seed bank of their village supported by Naya Sawera Vikash Kendra and 435 farmers are regularly preparing organic bio – repellents (green manure, vitamins, NPK solution, Jeewamrit, bijamrit, panchgavya, azola, matka khad, machli khad, amrit pani, lamit ark, dasparni ark, bhramastra etc.) , preparing vermicompost etc. for their own farm and are practicing Zero Budget Farming for maximum profit. The farmers of are also doing some innovative practices like preparing karil kitnashak (bamboo pesticide) for paddy crop are practiced by 137 farmers in Tapkara panchayat of Palkot block.
Eralier the farmers of these area were not aware about their farm resources nor recycling of their farm waste and were not having ideas on preparing of bio – repellents. After the intervension of CI and NSVK these farmers got traning on organic farming, also got the opportunities for exposure visits to various organic farm in different places. A progressive farmers from Tapkara village says that – being less educated and lack of knowledge I was only practicing crop to eat only in kharif season. After getting learnings and support from NSVK now I am practicing throught out the year in an organic method. This helps me to save money and in less inputs I’m earning maximum. He also says his annual earning is Rs. 2,00,000/-approx. Now by seeing his agricultural practicing techniques his fellow farmers have also moved towards zero budget farming. All the farmers are verymuch thankful to the organisation.
